The
Company
Keystone Animation Ltd. was founded in 2006 by the German
historian and filmmaker Christoph Neubauer and a local Tanzanian
in Dar es Salaam – United Republic of Tanzania. Neubauer
connects the establishing of this new company with hope
that, the successful operation of Keystone Animation Ltd
will attract more foreign investment in Tanzania particularly
in the areas of computer animation and film production.
Our
focus
We focus on the use of 3D computer animation to reconstruct
architecture of historic importance. The reconstructed buildings
are then used to create documentaries which are released
on DVD. Historical accuracy and a high level of detail are
essential elements of our virtual reconstructions.
Our quality standards
To enable us to maintain
a high standard of quality, all films are produced by the
"Christoph Neubauer Verlag" - Christoph Neubauer's
own publishing house. This is the only way to ensure that
a product is only released once the desired level of quality
has been attained, even if it means exceeding the original
budget and time-frame.
Tanzania - a special challenge
Our goal is the production
of documentary films for worldwide distribution on DVD.
For a company that is based in Tanzania this is quite a
challenge. Tanzania is one of the developing countries of
the world. Research indicates that barely 10% of the population
have electricity, and only 2% have internet access. In the
light of these facts it is easy to understand why it is
a difficult environment to function in for a company whose
work is based on computer technology. Another challenge
lies in the inadequate availability of trained manpower
- especially in the areas of computer animation and film
production. The company will have to invest in the training
of locals to build up the industry Like many other developing
countries Tanzania does not have a mechanism in place for
an international product numbering system (Global Trade
Item Number). This makes it difficult for all would be productions
of Keystone Animation Ltd to reach the world market directly
from Tanzania. To address this challenge, the company, through
its founder, established a publishing house in Germany known
as “Christoph Neubauer Verlag” through which
distribution of its products on the world market will be
made easy, independent and profitable.
